Had one, rust everywhere........................had an intermittant stalling problem where the motor lost power. The fender mounted control module was losing its ground as it was falling through the fender....................took awhile to figure out, it looked OK till it started hanging down.

That's funny ;D Reminds me of my old Ford wagon that had "premium sound".......I kept hearing wierd noises only while driving in the rain........turned out that Ford thought it'd be neat to mount the stereo amplifier in the left rear quarter down at the bottom. It got wet when it rotted and was causing strange sounds to come out of the rear speakers! Otherwise great sounding stereo though, LOL

But I would drive it in the winter, maybe a winter car, wouldn`t care about the body,as long as the heater works

I remember those cars........famous for frozen front brake calipers. The calipers used teflon pistons from the factory and they were prone to siezing up. And the front fenders used to always rust in perfect holes on them things. They never ran too well either.......lots of drivability related service bullitens. Stalling when cold, etc. People used to bring them in for a tune up thinking it would fix problems that sometimes couldn't be made better by the average mechanic. I used to hate it when one came in for a wheel alignment.....the adjustment was by sliding the upper contol arms in or out, and if the torsion bars were out of whack it only made the entire operation worse. One day I was in the alignment pit standing under one and the torsion bar adjustment bolt snapped off and the car came down on my head. I haven't been the same ever since. ;D ;D

My son Chris had an 80 Volare, hard to get parts for as a lot was different between 79 and 80. Car ended up with a 318, and an 8 3/4 rear end out of a 66 Dodge in it...................The differeentials that came in those were rather fragile..............

I`m surprised all you guys shot down this nice little F-body mopar, even you mopar freaks, Hey it was the best Chrysler could do for that time, fuel crunch, emissions control, at least they kept a sense of humor, remember the 77 Dodge Aspen R/T? its all history now

yes good looking for that era, but what else was there? a 78 Ford Granada, GM had some better looking cars, but I was all mopar

That Aspen R/T really ain't that bad looking for a '77 car. Anybody know the weight of those Magnums? As I remember they were tanks.....and the "lean burn" engines were dogs. I drove a lot of them back then, as a wheel alignment guy the road test was very important.

the lean burns were a nightmare, the distributors were changed on the lean burns. I remember my dad had to buy that computer unit that fit on the air cleaner at that time it was $300, at todays prices it would be $1500, car still ran like crap.

lean burn...I forgot about that...79 had a couple nice cars...I like the granada...the aspen was cool. Trans am, always like the style of the lincoln, cutlass ran the HO modle, monte also nice looking. elcamino, ranchero, wish they bing them back, t bird also was cool...not teh fastest era, but still some cool cars...and you can always make them fast.

The magnums were a nice looking car. But they never caught on. Very hard to come by now. Even nicer were the Chrysler 300s, red leather interior, special trim..................
