no this kid didn`t powder coat the gas tank, like Benny said everything below the carb. has been powder coated, this was done internally, that carb was rebuilt 2 years ago also, I`m beginning to think the lead additive I been putting in the tank was not helping
correction the 53 Plymouth`s carb was rebuilt not this one

I have never added lead additive to any of my cars,,regardless if the heads were done or not. Remember 40 years or so ago..Amoco gas...the premium was lead free...My dad ran it..had no problems....and also used it in a coleman stove where "white gas" was reccommended...pure lead free...I believe the lead additives are a rip

white gas was just todays unleaded correct? My dad use to put it in colman lantern, but its been twenty years since then.

I`m sure todays gas has so much additives to it already, lead additives properly just cause this jelling, and crap build up, may be some rust also

white gas was sold by some dealers at different service stations in a separate tank. I usually saw a 100 gallon tank with a hand pump. The gas went up in price and Dad bought the amoco supreme as that was also lead free. He ran lanterns and coleman stoves for years with the stuff. Check out what a gallon of coleman fuel costs compared to a gallon of unleaded. I don't know, haven't bought coleman fuel in decades.

Actually, I've seen worse in carbs............. Car sat for awhile while you rebuilt it. Probably not bad for a 40 year old carb. I found a re-man carb for my 73 Bird on e-bay. The original has been on the car since new..........untouched. I know the accelerator pump has seen better days as it is sluggish. Will put her on when car comes out of storage............ Picked up a rebuilt holly for the 66 Dodge too..............the 780 has seen better days as well.
