Check out the link below for a local car that is going to be sold at the Barrett Jackson Auction in January: www.barrett-jackson.com/events/scottsdale/vehicles/cardetail_list.asp?id=181711Originally created by Western NY MOPAR club member Mike Oliver back in 94, the car started as a Green Hardtop with a 318 and an automatic. I assisted Mike in the conversion to what it became. The car was sold at last summers Chryslers at Carlisle event, freshened up and is now going to be auctioned at the big Barrett Jackson Auction...............

He sold it to buy a Victory motorcycle.
I am really curious to see what a documented "clone" car swill sell for at Barrett-Jackson, I would estimate 80 grand............we will see. The current owner did supposedly put at least another 15 grand in it since he bought it.

My opinion was the car was worth 40 grand given the right circumstances. Even though it was a clone, a real one would be 100-150 grand. And a real one you may not even want to risk driving......so what good is it? He arranged for a friend to sell it in Carlisle, and was happy with what he got, but it was much less than the 40 grand I figured. The car was definitely fast! Had the 3:23 gears so was driveable, and the 440 six bbl and 4-speed was real fun. We built it back in 94............you will NEVER find affordable donor cars to do that project again!
New owner has done a complete repaint, new top, fixed a few minor problems, and had it professionally detailed. Supposedly put another 15 grand into it.
I have a feeling it will go for 80 grand plus at B-J............
It goes for auction on January 20th..............will see!

I agree, it reminds us of all the cars we can't afford............ever!
But gives us dreams................
The one that got away, the one that sold............

I like to see what people are doing to the old cars, as far as price, well i never have one. it seems funny cause if you go on craigs list and look under a car your looking for in the san jose/cali area, seems like you can get such a great car cheap. The cars around here are higher priced and loaded with rust. you can change the search words or go to the main page and go to cities, but look at the 65 cuda Ray for 3 grand looks like a deal, and the 1958 cheap, there is a clone yenco nova on there very nice for 6, I just live in the wrong area. www.craigslist.com/cgi-bin/search?areaID=1&subAreaID=&query=plymouth&catAbbreviation=sss

that Cuda for $3000.00 is not such a deal, its a 6 cly, The steering post has been altered the whole interior has been altered, nothing seems origional, my car was $2500.00 needed alot, but nothing was butchered, chopped up, or jerry rigged, I most likely will end up putting more money in my car then I would get back if sold, but I guess thats how this hobby goes.

Buy now, I have a feeling muscle cars will jump even more in value, I did notice some of the 50s car prices seem to stay put, and even go down.

Muscle cars may have "peaked". They have reached the point where only the very rich can afford them, and then only as an investment. Now clone cars will really come of age as affordable.
Remember 50's cars are now 50 years old, the people that can identify with them are dying off, so the market is going sour. Yeah the top cars like the 59 caddy, and the tri-5 chevys are still popluar, but the early T-birds have flat lined, and some others are dropping fast.
