if that's the one on Tv a few weeks ago,it's 110k in price but they are making a more family oriented vehicle for less. When those are on the road, old iron will be in the museum or crusher. Hydrogen and electricity is the future for vehicles. No more dinosaurs powered by dinosaur fossil fuel.

environmentalists/cost/demand.........the big 3.....they aren't investing millions in these cars for nothing

exactly what fuel of choice will these car be made of, personally i think only hydrogen can be used. I also think with todays tech, you could make a gas car get 70 mpg if you wanted easy. Problem is there is no demand for such a car. Jeez hitler helped make a car that got mid 40 in the 1930. environmentalist/lobbiest will support anything of change, {cost} i don't think you save anything, demand, i don't think will be there with a hybyrd car or electric. I think the big three are in it as a PR move, thats it.

Well....Erz-Moses forecasts that in 15 years....gas engines will be done...or should I say Nostral-Thomas??

ok thats fine, but you have to read into it more I think... this is from Bob lutz Gm chairman.... "Toyota has said, economically, hybrids make no sense. The reduction in fuel [consumption] does not pay for the technological content and cost of the vehicle so therefore economically it remains fairly nonsensical, so that's the left-brain analytical argument.
The right brain is it's the popular thing to do, many people believe that if we all drove hybrids the world would suddenly get cooler again and then it's the patriotic thing to do because if you drive a hybrid you will no longer be funding the Arab terrorists, and so forth.
So, with all those beliefs out there, you have to do a hybrid for public policy reasons."
<END>
problem with ethonol is production, but overall it is still costly to produce with little infrastructure in the United States. So what is the plan, also how do you go away from crude when it is used for ton upon tons of products? also the hybrids do not get close to the expected MPG, its really a mess. Maybe in 15 years you might be correct for me, i think we will stay on oil for a while. They may make a duel fuel car but it will be based on a gas engine.

My prediction......... Hydrogen will never fly. New tech or not, it still takes fossil fuels to produce them, and phasing them in would be too costly. Unless the huge, greedy oil companies can horn in on the profits, they'll make sure it never flys. Many inventors have made engines that run on water, batteries and light bulbs that last forever......only to have the patent rights bought up by huge companies. It's all about money, if the envirnment really mattered, emissions from fossil fuels would have been eliminated a long time ago.

ohh btw e85, you can convert existing engines to run it...and makes more power. But with less MPG
I forgot one point about e85... ot takes 11 acres of corn to power 1 car 15000 miles, this is a average. now if you take how many cars are on the road, the figure for acres of corn is 290 million arable acres of land in the US.

I forgot one point about e85... ot takes 11 acres of corn to power 1 car 15000 miles, I didn't think it would go that far.........but it's still impractical IMO Gee whiz, the cornfield behind my house would get me at least around 5,000 miles I'd think......but I'll ask the farmer how much $$$ he lays out to plant and harvest it. That'd buy a lot of gas! And I'll be a lot more confortable even in the Tempo than one of those oversized kiddie power wheels LOL

Thing about this Tesla car is it runs on laptop batteries, almost 7000 of them. Can't help but wonder if these are the same batteries that are catching fire............can you imagine taking 7000 batteries back for a recall..................
And ethanol can also be made of other plant matter as well, not necessarily corn...............they can have my yard clippings............

just a example G, still going to take ton of $$ and time to make it, won't fly only in small quanities. the goverment make it sound as though we have a huge supply of biomass, and we just switch our cars from gas to ethonol. It dosn't say how much of our biomass is spoken for.
