not really expensive, they estimate high and come way under their price when its done, the medal is striped and they send it out to get rechromed, they also polish medal, they polished my head light rings for free, they done all my small stuff the last few years, they did not have big enough tanks for bumpers last year, but maybe that changed

Barnes rules! They plated some things for me and they came out GREAT! And the price actually came out to slightly less than they quoted me. ;D Then there's Brothers Custom Bone............

talk to Wolf when you drop the stuff off, he seems close on the price, the thing is they don`t even know what it will cost because they strip and ship

I heard that Barnes sends their bumpers to Canada. I'll bet they would come out very nice, Barnes seems to take pride in what they sell. ;D

For bumpers, Barnes strips and preps them, then they send them out and polish them when they get back. Price Quote is usually higher than what it actually costs. I am really happy with the work they did straightening my Grille surrounds and side chrome for the 67 Coronet. Also the chroming and polishing they did for me.

Do you get your bumpers back or is it an exchange basis?

tri city does a good job but you have to send them. (freight costs)...Barnes is a small ride and do good work except I don't like doing business with middle men. If the price was reasonable to tri city...then I would go to Barnes

Do you get your bumpers back or is it an exchange basis? You get your own back, they don't have any "stock". That's why there is a wait to get them done..........

That's how tri city will/can work it. I've had no problems with "replacement" bumpers as of today

Thanks Gary. I would prefer to get my own back. That way you know there won't be any problems with the way they fit.

tri city had a 65 barracuda on hand that they rechromed for me, they then sent it UPS to my door, I was supposed to send them my bumper in return for a refund of $50 for a core charge, but I kept my origional as a spare.

I wounder if Barnes can re-chrome a set of headers?

Some bumpers have been bent permanently out of shape although they look straight. The metal sometimes "stretches" when the bumper gets bent. That's why replacements don't always fit. No matter what they do to straighten it, they can't be re-shaped to a perfect fit. If you can keep your own, by all means do so. The chance you'll get a one that has not been bent to hell before it was re-chromed is very slim.

I wounder if Barnes can re-chrome a set of headers? Probably.........but! If they are getting thin anywhere, the acid dip will dissolve them. and headers do get thin, even chrome ones from the inside out, the metal is stretched during bending, and where they are welded at collectors are weak spots. If they are good shape though, probably, but they may "blue" again.
