I know the big ones around here , but how about around the state. What are the nicest shows in New York. This comming year I like to travel a little to go to a show, 3 hr max. I think its a good idea, you see the same cars at local shows, I think traveling to shows could be fun. If we find some nice ones, or somebody know about a good one is anybody interested in a cruise/show?

I wish there was a site that had a listing of shows in NY. Hehe... j/k We don't get a ton of them submitted to us. It's wierd. One club that runs a decent show is the Street Machines of Rochester. I think they have a show in August. www.streetmachinesofrochester.comCheck with Gary (SWI66). He knows a lot of shows outside of the area.

I noticed this past year that some car shows had different cars then other car shows. The UAW cruise in Lockport always brings out a different crop of autos.

One of my favorite shows of the year is the Victor car show at the finger lakes race track in Cannandaigua. This is really a "sports car" show that has been expanded to 85 classes. This one is on the first Sunday ion June every year and has a swap meet, and always over 500 cars, not a bad drive down the thruway either. They have a Corvair class, but also has a class for just about everything but I will admit I'm not sure about "newer" cars. This show actually has a Rolls Royce/Bentley class, and a class for microcars.
Don't forget the car shows in Canada either..........I went to the Last Chance car show on Sept. 26th, over 400 cars, a lot of which you do not see the likes of here in the US. Beaumont, Parissianne, Canso, Acadian, Montcalm, Laurenthian, Meteor, Fargo, etc.....These are variations of common cars only sold in Canada.
No matter what you own, Carlisle has a show for you, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Corvette, Import, Kit Car, Truck, etc..there is a show for you. Carlisle runs one of the best Major events I have ever been to. Definitely worth the trip as a participant.

Street Machines of Rochester also run a good show in June, I beleive..........have not gone to that one in a few years, conflict with a local show for me.
Hilton Apple Festival in Hilton NY (near rochester) is also a good show. It has an arts and crafts show, and every organization in town comes out for the festival by running a booth, deep fried apple slices, apple sundaes, hot mulled cider, apple sausage, onion petals, pulled pork, beef on weck, deep fried pickles, deep fried oreos, pies.....(anyone getting hungry yet!). The festival is now 2.5 miles from the car show, but there is a shuttle running constantly back and forth. This works out a lot better than before when the show was next door to the festival because it was really rough getting in and out of the show due to the traffic. This show can easily draw over 400 cars, neat awards, "apple plaques". This year it was really rainy, but still had over 200 cars.
I probably hit more shows ansd cruises than most people do, kind of addicted to it. This year though even when I go to the same cruises there have been new cars I have not seen before just about everywhere.

Sounds like Fun I'm looking forward to SEMA in a few weeks, I'll have to try and find some big NY area shows next summer to go too. More to see and less local BS.

I wasn't putting down the local shows, I was referring to the local politics, complaining, backstabbing, boycotting, etc.. that gets constantly repeated to me when I go to local shows or when I get back home and check our "temp" forum.
What I meant was it will be nice to go to an event and just enjoy it for what it is; See tons of new & different cars. Meet new people and talk to them about the cars and less about politics of car shows and enjoy the day.

The Street Masters show at Gargoyle Park in Olean is nice. There are no awards and you can come and go as you please. They give large wood wall plaques to the 1st 300 cars. There are car vendors, food vendors and music too. We had a good time there!
