premium was 2.29 on the local economy before katrina....gas on the stockmarket then was about 1.50 ...as it is now....so why is premium about 40 to 50 cents higher than then...and the 89 and 87 are also

Well I am not going to go driving out to the rez for gas. I would spend the difference getting there.

I always like the "gas is watered down" or "my car runs like crap on rez gas" People at the Air Base had problems with their fuel. They also don't put anti jelling agents in their diesel fuel and admit it by the posting on their pumps. I used their diesel once and had no problems in the summer but to drive out of My way is not acceptable to Me. And I am one who has the anti rez stigma because of friends experience and with My luck,I don't care to "maybe" have problems. Somthing to ponder...I have traditionally bought from dealers,new/used cars(less than a year old) for My wife and save almost half the list price. The cars are rentals or whatever their first 8 or 9 months and the ones I bought all were under 10000 miles. I always run premium in all cars and never had an injector problem. Point here is...The cars were all a bit sluggish in the beginning and I noticed that after about 3 to 4 tanks of premium they performed better and gas mileage increased by as much as 4 miles per gallon. I assume the cars were running on 87 octane before purchase but I am very pleased with the mileage and performance on 91 octane. I'm willing to pay extra for this result.

Akron is always cheaper.......I suspect that's b/c their reservation is not really as closeby to the population as the ones around the niagara region are. I've been running rez gas in all our cars for the past 5 years and haven't really had any problems. One thing I do notice is that smokin joe's gas smells like kerosene. I hear that if you cut gas with kerosene it raises the octane........maybe he buys the economy grade and adds kero to it then sells it as 87 octane? I don't really know who's being dishonest with prices so much higher than they should be around here, but I suspect it's the distributors and not the dealers. I know there is a lot of tax added on in this state, but the prices seem to go up so fast and come down so slow. And our average price here is always much higher than the national average. It kinda goes along with the high property taxes.

In Akron, I go to TP deli for gas. I know the owner Pete Poodry, and he IS a car guy. Has some real nice classic cars including a two seater T-bird. Him I trust................. Closer to the villiage there is a place called 49 express. Years ago there I stopped with one of the Subaru's to fill up. Tank was very low..........warning light was on. Somehow I managed to put in a full gallon MORE than the car supposedly would hold. ......Nobody wanted to know nothing, I must be wrong................yeah right! Last time I ever went to that one.

I know just what you mean Gary. Once I took the Buick there for a fill up after the cruise, and the wise a$$ PUNK working there at 49 express dragged the gas hose across my quarter panel! After ripping him a new one, I reported his attitude to his boss the next day and haven't been back there since. That station down that narrow road off Bloomingdale just after 49 is a great place. I forgot the name of the road, but it's very easy to miss in the dark driving down Bloomingdale Rd. ;D

TP deli, the one I go to is right on bloomingdale though pretty much on the other side of the rez. Works for me as I usually go on the way home from work, or detour that way and make a longer trip when going to the cruise in Akron. It's closer to Rt 77.

Akron's too far away for us since we moved.........but when I used to go there the price was always at least 5 or 10 cents lower than what's out here. The rez by us now is only about 10 minutes away. ;D
