The car in which President Frankenstein and Annie drive away in after their wedding is a Richard Oaks Nova kit-car, actually based on the Volkswagen Beetle chassis (but obviously not the body). These were available in kit form for many years starting in the mid-1970s.
I always thought All of the cars in the movie, except one, are re-bodied Volkswagens, including a VW Karmann-Ghia (Matilda's Buzz Bomb). The only non-VW was the white Resistance Army car that chases Frankenstein very briefly before crashing and blowing up; it's a 1965 or 1966 Ford Mustang fastback.

Yes mostly VW chassis, but one had a Corvair motor mated to it. Something commonly done with kit cars. For the life of me I can't remember which one. It was mentioned in an article about Corvair bases movie and TV cars in the national Corvair magazine a few years ago.
Also mentioned was the bad guys car from The Great Race, Also The Man From UNCLE TV car(Girl from UNCLE too) that was a concept car called the Pirahna, but complete Corvair based.
So why would I know this..................
