Nothing against Corvairs, Gary, but that looks like another GM blunder to me.......it doesn't even come close to resembling a 'Vair IMHO. It's going to be interesting watching how GM is going to market these things. Maybe a little '60's music in the commercials? You'd think they'd take a que from Ford with the sucess of the new Mustangs. That's the sharpest car to hit the market in a long time and it doesn't just look like another cookie cutter car. When I look at it I see a Mustang. When I look at that new Corvair, I see a G6 (or whatever that new Pontiac thingy is)

it might make it...it's another version of the vette like the try opel did before. Remember, this is a 2 seater and not practical as a family car. That's a strike against it plus the name corvair, just doesn't do justice to it, My opinion. At least the mustang can squeeze in 4 or 5 and is more suitable for a family car than this "corvair"....265 hp straight six will also be a little low on torque. What are they thinking the market will be for this?? Young kids coming out of high school or college?? doubt it....yups r us ?? I would imagine more power would be up their alley. The "boomers" ?? Possibly the biggest buyers but small 2 seaters will wear off when asses and backs hurt. You'd think with all the financila problems GM has, it would think a bit better.

Well being th air cooled opposed six cylynder motor, it is more along the lines of a Porche competition, with affordability in mind. Maybe it will appeal to the colege aged kids. And now with fuel injection and a possible 300 horse, the old Corvairs peaked out at 180 horse. The latest development is that this "may" come out instead of the new Camaro! GM is worried big time that the Camaro will screw up the CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards and they will be on the hook for large fines if they don't meet them.
Personal opinion is, GM figures the Challenger will kill the new Camaro anyways. and tough to compete against the Mustang already so they are going a different way...........
And GM has been notorious for NOT resembling the cars it re-creates, The GTO certainly didn't look like one, so the Corvair name comes back as it still follows the air cooled design..........

oh ya...corvair and PORSHE...they always went together...second thing I thought of after hearing corvair. Can You imagine one plopping down 25 grand on a vair, then possibly getting a test ride in a porshe ....can you imagine..."rip off"...I don't care about the price differential...you can dress up a pig but it's still a pig. BUT>>>>WAIT A MINUTE BOB_A_LOUEY !! It REEKS of new buyer success.!!!...it's just like the retards that install fart cans on their ricers and chase after the muscle cars.....also the ones who park their new crap next to old iron at cruises...GM IS BACK FOR SURE !!!

There was yet another important announcement out of the GM camp yesterday. The discontinuation of the Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, and GMC lines. The general is throwing all its eggs in one basket with marketing of a Complete Corvair line including Trucks, Vans, Sports Cars, Station Wagons, and even a luxury Model. GM spokesperson April Loof also made note it is official that the Camaro will be still born and not make the roster.

They may as well.......all GM cars are Chevy anyway, the only real difference is the skin. No different than when Chrysler dropped the Plymouth nameplate. April fools joke or not.
