And would you ever think, What was unthinkable not too many years ago has finally happened -- Toyota is now the No. 1 automobile company in the world, surpassing General Motors in sales in the first quarter of this year. Toyota announced Tuesday that it had sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide in the January-March quarter, surpassing the 2.26 million vehicles GM sold during the same period. Yes, it's only one quarter, but the momentum has been building for years now, and I don't expect Toyota to lose its lead anytime soon.

I just wonder how long it will take for the Chrysler auto workers to be forced to accept reduced wages and benefits? We are witnessing the demise of the last jobs left in this country that actually pay a living wage. My bet is that GM is next.........

My son works in the parts department at Cicconi's. Union shop. He does not get the "typical" UAW type wage. But does get a fairly decent medical insurance. Management has been chasing him around with a piece of paper to sign for months to get him to quit the union so he can be cross trained with the promise of more money down the road. But it also includes a significant increase in his costs for the insurance.
As it stands now, he can't even deliver parts because he is classed as a counter man. Cannot be put on a repair job(where he would make more money) All union rules............you know, two guys watching and one working type stuff.

That's union busting! Tell him not to sign ANYTHING.......they will promise him everything under the sun but don't have to come through with ANY promises if they don't feel like it once he signs that paper. I remember when Firestone pulled that crap on me and the rest of the guys in the shop we worked for. As soon as the threat of a union was gone, it was business as usual and all the promises made by the company were forgotten as fast as they were made.

I`m a union Paramedic (teamsters) I don`t think I would ever put in for a white shirt job, It seems the the higher you go in management (non union) the closer you are to the door, I seen it happen.
