Next time I see the person in charge at Olcott I'm going to ask her what genius came up with the idea of putting a vendor in the middle of the main street taking up prolly 4 or 5 spaces on a cruise night? Not to mention the fact the generator they run drown's out Nancy's music totally for those of us parked on the west end of the street. Brilliant, just brilliant.......

didn't...doesn't make sense...it also takes away from the restaurants....BAD IDEA...they have the empty lots/space now....should include a flea market..would draw more people to the town...years ago Stevie/Nancy did a one day all day show and vendors set up on the sidewalk..flea market stuff....I'd get there at 6am and not leave till the flame off contest was over around 10 or 11 pm....what a ball

If you are seriously thinking about the hot dog cart, check with the Health Department first. Their rules and regulations on hot dog carts are absolutely ridiculous!!

okay everyone calm down...the brillant genius who allowed the vendor on main street was ME...every week we have been trying to work out the difficulties with the middle buildings being gone..yes Olcott is starting to look better..yes Saturday was simple wonderful up there this week.. all of the older cars there, lots of people and the weather, well you couldn't have had it any better...I have never ever seen the water in the lake look as beautiful as it did at the end... turquois blue, sky pink and yellow, calm, no wind..absolutely breath taking... the problem that came up with the vendor is the fried dough vendor is a sponsor of cruise night that has paid in full for the season (which up there is really something over 17 years) anyway, where they normally park , which is at the end of the street, there were cars parked there, they waited and tried to find the owners to get them moved, couldn't they were waiting for Jane to come down to talk to her, I spoke to them and told them for tonight, go park in front of the van, never giving it a thought that the problems would come up with the generator ( as I was told many times from cruisers over the coarse of the night) it was a situation that came up for that night and tried
to accomodate everyone...will have to figure out another situation. They are a sponsor and feel that they aren't a part of cruise night being away from everyone, which I understand and understand the problem with them being on main st also, but it was a decision that had to be made and seeing no one else around wanted to help them, I did.. I apologize for the fact that their generator drowned out my music ( which I was having a problem with power surges from now having to be plugged into the rides, I was just waiting for the equipment to pop...made it fun all night wondering what the hey was going on, so I apologize for the up (loud ups) and downs of the music, another problem that has to somehow work out) so that is why and what happened with the fried dough vendor.. just have to find a comprimise to make all happy... Hot dog vendors, there was a person set up 2 weeks ago in the area where the seafood bar had been, they were told that they had to move due to other restaurants (whom are all paying sponsors in town selling the same type of food) and the vendor not having the proper approval...it is a difficult thing up there, there is no one selling food on the street where a person can grab something to eat without having to go sit in a restaurant, but there are the carry out places inside with the rides (whom are sponsors)... plus thru the years others have tried to "cook" hotdogs on the street (down by Park Place) but the smoke and grease tends to blow onto the cars, so that stopped years ago.. I could go on with others that have tried to do things, but it all didn't work out for numerous reasons that still prevent anyone from doing this now... Tom the shows you were talking about, when the car show started 18years ago, it was originally on Main street, every year it grew bigger and bigger, there would be (1st year 2 bands during day, us, and then Big Wheelie at the end, 2nd year 3 bands, us, Big wheelie at the end) the show would start at 8:00 am and we would finish up at Midnight...want to talk about a long long day...I can go on with the history of that show, but won't....the flame throwers were always cruisers that would show up each week of cruise night, that is when cruise night went from 6-10:00, would always line them up all at the end of the street down by Park place and the park... every week would end up with anywhere from 6-10 cars all doing the flame throw....but some of these people have moved out of state, some just don't do it anymore as it really beat on their engine and some who still do it, just don't come up there as it really is a ride for them...yes it was great and everyone really looked forward to it every week..was an impressive sight... even had the sheriffs as they were patorling the area stop and block off traffic in all directions so we could do this....they told us that we "basically" weren't allowed to do this, but until someone called and complained... go for it....so you see folks there is always the "other" side of the story...hope I have answered some of the reasons for what is going on...we will get the bugs taken care of, just have to give us some time to work all of these details out...I know that it is upsetting, but then again, I never know what will happen for the night until I get there on Saturday, have been dealing with a different person every week when it comes to my power also..have you ever had to explain something to someone and they look at you like you have 5 heads on your neck and they don't have a clue of what you are talking about? Meet me there when it comes to plugging in....and I realize they haven't been told, and even when they have they don't get the picture...oh well, not the first time and won't be the last time when this all happens, just have to go with the flow and make a situation the best we can... So again, I apologize to all for the problems, but we are working on them...so there you go, thats the "rest" of the story....
