:)Don't shoot the messenger but I 'm watching Channel 27(cable) espn Hot Rod show and they picked the top 10 muscle cars...here dey is 10......69 Pontiac Trans am 9.....67...427 corvette 8....69 Daytonna 7.....69 copo Camaro 6......71 Hemi cuda 5....67 A/c Cobra 4...68 Shelby GT 500 3...70 454 chevelle LS6 2....69 429 Boss Mustang 1...69 Pontiac Judge Notice NO BUICKS.................. Interesting...they could run the #1 and #10 car to see which car IS the slowest of the lot in the Qtr. The other 8 would all kick their butts.

I like the judge, was a favorite car growing up...till I understood money and noticed at 2.95 a hour i was not buying one lol....then when I made more cash they went up again....

In 68 a new 4 speed gto went for around 3500 smacker's base price. The Judge package bumped it well over 4 grand. Pontiacs...olds...buicks all road alot better than the "other performance" cars that were cheaper but faster. performance was a big factor when deciding on a muscle car then. At that time I was making 2.73 an hour......couldn't afford a $3500 car.

Very interesting list. I don't think the A/C cobra and Corvette should be classified as muscle cars though, they're more of a true sports car.

I think the daytonna is out also as it was built for oval track purposes...superbird also....good poing...American sports car though...western Europe barfs at the thought corvette and cobra are "sportscars"

Yeah, not exactly sportscars as compared to other countires (esp. Europe in the 60's through 70's), but much more sport oriented than anything the US was manu. at the time. I guess they're the true "sport compacts", lol

What did europe have in 67 that compared to the ac cobra? No wonder why everyone fled Britain.

thier idea of sportscar is handling...manuvering...etc......and top end. Most their cars were geared (then) for curved country roads as that is still mostly the case. They do have the Jag XKE (did then). Of course the germans had BMW and it was another great top end performer. You didn't see 1/4 mile drag strips in England, at least not when I was there from 73 to 76. AND of course the French...like Ferrarri.......cobra would get em up to about 120...but the other's would walk away on top end...auto von for the ferrarris and beamers...

And don't forget that Shelby just stole the A/C's body design and stuck a small block Ford in it originally, so the styling is still British. Then came the big blocks a few years later.

I like my El Camino!! I would add the 1966 Chevy II SS to that list. As I remember a guy with the nickname of "Grumpy" kicked a lot of ass with a 350HP/327, in Super Stock..
