I like my El Camino!! I would add the 1966 Chevy II SS to that list. As I remember a guy with the nickname of "Grumpy" kicked a lot of ass with a 350HP/327, in Super Stock.. I would agree, but I'm biased since my dad has one

I believe they were made from 59-87, but I may be off a little 59 was the first yearfor the El Camino. But the second year was 64! Go figure................ They also made a variant known as the GMC Sprint! I had a 72...............nicer trim. This was so the GMC dealers, basically Buick, Pontiac, Olds, and Caddy could sell trucks.................

Sorry Gary; 1959 then 1960--then skipped to 1964. Production ended in 1987, but, some leftover 87s were sold as 1988s. I've had afew El Caminos. The present one (which I was glad to get back; long story) is a 1986, no winter truck, with all factory options.

The El Caminos had big Block options and a heck of alot of small block options in the 60"s. Not many at the track on a professional level then because of traction/weight issues. A 327 chevy motor in the 60's went from anywhere from 210 HP to 365hp...(as I remember...maybe a 375 version)...pro's at the track established the standard for what car a person should buy and MASSIVE advertising didn't hurt much either
