Well I purchased a new project car this evening. It is a 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 4 door sedan. I purchased this car from my wife's Uncle. He bought it on Ebay from an independently wealthy gentleman from Ohio last year. I typically don't care for 4 door cars but something about this car really got my attention. It has a red exterior and black interior. It has a 252 cubic inch V8 with a 2 barrel. I went and test drove it this evening with my wife and it was great!!! It is definitely alto different ride than in my Cutlass. I just wanted to keep on cruising. I probably won't have her on the road for awhile. So as far as a Quality Ford parts go, is Mac's the place to go? I've seen their display booths everywhere. I'm limited on garage space and have to sell my 76 Cutlass. If anyone is interested in the Cutlass call me at 694-9022. I just had the transmission rebuilt and a shift kit installed at Competition Transmission this past spring. For more information / picture of the Cutlass check out the Buy and Sell section. I'm asking $4,500.

Macs is nice because you can go right to the store and shop. I have bought T-bird parts from them. There are other dealers on the internet as well. Compare prices.

I would go to Mac's if I was a ford guy, Mac's is a big sponsor of alot of car shows and cruises, in this area, the owner Rick is a nice guy has even helped me find parts for my Mopar.

Once I get my hands on the car I will take some pictures. My plan is to have it on the road by the Fantasy Island Car show. I plan on bringing both cars, that is if I still have the Cutlass. You are more than welcome to stop by and check it out. I'm not to far away from Gratwick Park in NT. I have a question. Has anyone every heard of a Ford 252 V8? I came up with this by using a VIN # decoder. I was speaking to a friend of mine and he said that there wasn't such an engine and it was most likely a 352. He said you can identify a 353 by the position of the spark plugs. I was told by another friend that the 252 was used in the Thunderbird. Any information would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have never heard of a 252 myself. If it does exist that would mean it is a smaller displacement than the 260 V-8 which is the forerunner of the 289-302. The 260 was used in some Falcons back then. Does it look like a 289 small block? A 352 was a larger motor, and I beleive would be likely in the Galaxie. More likely in a Galaxie would be a 390.

I am thinking 352 engine also. A FE series engine which include the 352,390,427, 428. they had weird ones to like 406, 410. you can decode your vin from this site. www.socalgalaxies.com/VIN_1963_plate.htm

Thanks for that link Joel. Here is the site I was looking at: web.ics.purdue.edu/~stanchfi/1963-galaxie-us-id.html This 63 Galaxie 500 has an X engine code. If you look on the site I listed above it says it is a 252. If you look at the link Joel found it says 352. A friend ran the VIN at a Ford dealership and they came up with a 252. I just can't believe that 17' 6" car would be powered by a 252. Another friend who is very familiar with Fords told me that the 352, 390, etc. engines have a unique spark plug placement. If you are looking at the engine block from the side the 1st and 2nd plugs are angled diagonally toward the back of the engine and 3rd and 4th spark plugs are angled diagonally toward the the front of the engine. Thanks for all of the information.

Hey JOE! JOE! JOE! JOE!!! Sorry about that L at the end of your name. I was close. You both own FORDS. I'd say you both own Mustangs but I believe the Mustang is his wifes. Anyway, thanks for your help. Don't be surprised if 84Monteman calls you Joel. Hey asked me last Sunday if your name was Joe or Joel. No need to ask what I told him. I think you introduced me to Ray as Bob. Just kidding. I appreciate your help.

Goes place to place "cruisin". If your interested you can always come along, I think we could get something going. Nice to see the car in action. The guy on that site is now emailing me and saying the site never stated that. I guess he must have a couple people working at purdue ed that changed it and he's acting like I am crazy. I may have to introduce him to teh waybackwebmachine, if he keeps it up.

That Sunday Cruise sounds pretty cool. Let me know when you plan on starting it. Today is definately out. I'm recovering from my sons 6th & 2nd birthday parties yesterday. To top it all off I'm at work today. Hopefully I will have the Galaxie 500 on the road sometime next week.

I went to pick up the Galaxie 500 this afternoon. Before I bought it I had to bring it home and try squeezing this huge car in my garage. I pulled my Cutlass out of the garage and pulled the Galaxie in. Well it barely fit. The down side to this story is I woudn't be able to store anything else in my 1 1/2 car garage ( Lawnmower, kids toys, etc..). Due to minimal garage storage space I had to decline on this really nice car. It will be put on Ebay in approximately 2 - 3 weeks. I wish I had more garage space. If anyone is interested in a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500, 352 V8 / 2 barrel, 4 door, red exterior / black interior call me at 694-9022 or email me and I will put you in contact with the owner.
